Floods In Pakistan

World Malaria Day 2009

Floods 2011:

In 2011, Sindh faced a devastating flood leaving 3.8 million people affected by it. There were a total of 139 deaths and 399 injured in this province according to PDMA. The first spell of rain mainly affected seven southern districts of Sindh while the second spell of rain affected the entire province except the capital Karachi (UNDP).

Meenay Laas is responding to the disaster by sending emergency response and providing shelter to the worst affected areas of Sindh.

Floods 2010:

The recent floods in Pakistan have caused widespread destruction. Millions have lost their homes and thousands have lost their lives. Six million people need direct assistance to survive, reports the UN while almost one in ten people of Pakistan’s population has been impacted by the natural disaster.

The displaced population is currently living in makeshift camps and government buildings, while some are still stranded in flooded areas. The evacuees are in dire need of food, shelter, medical care and safe drinking water.

Meenay Laas is responding to the disaster by sending emergency response and providing shelter to the worst affected areas in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Meenay Laas will:

1. Distribute essential food supply packages to families
2. Provide shelter, bedding and cooking utensils
3. Conduct a safe drinking water campaign
